Can you play region 1 DVD on a LG DB560?

LG's Spec on their web site says you can play PAL/NTSC DVD's but if the area code says region 2 then you are out of luck.

I phoned LG their reply yes you can play region's 2 NTSC (Japan).

I am taking this further.
