Why are water waste treatment facilities not treating pharmaceutical pollutants?

How, precisely, do you propose they do this; and how much are you willing to spend in increased water/sewage fees for it?

I mean, sure, we could distill our waste water so that it's absolutely pure, but that would be ridiculously expensive.
