The SR-71 was a strategic reconnaissance plane for the US Air Force. It was known for it's extremely high altitude and speed. It flew at 80,000 feet in the air. It is the fastest plane ever to in the military, flying at Mach 3.3. It's first flight flew in 1964 and was commissioned in 1966 and retired from the military in 1998.
It's manufacturers production of the plane was so confidential that they had to airbrush the backround of the SR71's location to disguise it. 3.3 mach is more than 3 times the speed of sound and more than 2,000 MPH.
