Piercing Your Lip With an EarringIn theory, yes. Although its a heck of a lot safer to go to a professional. If you're that hell bent on doing it yourself, get a disinfected pin/needle, numb your lip with ice, pierce it with the pin and then place a clean lip ring/stud in the hole. Clean Regularly at least three times a day especially after eating, be sure to twist the stud/ring every few hours to avoid your lip healing around the piercing.
DON'T use mouthwash!! This tends to dry your mouth out, and makes it harder for the piercing to heal. The mouth is one of the fastest healing parts of your body, since it is always moist. Rinsing with water will work fine after eating, as long as there isn't any food stuck to the ring. If you insist on using an earring, make sure that when you're finished, the ring doesn't pinch, or pull on the skin. This could lead to infection, and scarring.
