Why is Maya Angelou losing her vision?

Author Maya Angelou is not losing her vision. She says in an interview that she is not ready to retire yet. She does need a walker to get around, and says sometimes her hands don't work right but she is currently writing a cookbook. The only vision problems she has is simply due to old age.
