When you put two ball python snakes in the cage why are they sleeping on top of each other?

This is a well-known dominance display between snakes. The snake on top is trying to force the snake on the bottom to move out of its spot. This causes stress between both animals, but more so to the snake on the bottom as it's being bullied out of prime hiding spots, humid spots, hiding spots, etc.
