You can do your taxes anytime. Technically, the normal tax season lasts from mid-January to April 15. This is the time most people file. But if you need more time you can request an extension, which will give you until October 15 to file without any penalties and interest. If you still fail to file by October 15, you can still send your return in to the IRS, but you will have to paper file, as e-file shuts down every year on October 15.
