On a 1999 suzuki intruder do you check the oil while the bike is leaning on the kickstand or do you stand the bike straight up?

You check it while it is standing straight up and the correct level is 1/2 the site glass. A little over half would be ok but no more then 3/4 and you don't want to have less then 1/2.
