How many cylinders in a big rig engine?

Current production trucks typically use an inline 6 motor. A couple of the European manufacturers (such as Scania) have their higher displacement (14 - 15 litre) motors in V8 configuration (makes the motor more compact). The last V8 motor available for trucks on the US market was the Mack E9, which displaced 14.6 litres.
