Why can't Dan be a Tomas and Amy not Ekaterina?

Well, their grandma, Grace Cahill, was an Ekaterina Leader. If they're her grandchildren, they have to be Ekaterina too. Dan can't be a Tomas because Ekaterina is in his blood, along with Amy.
