How Scott Joplin died?

He gave a single performance of his own work, at this own expense in 1915, but the performance was a failure receiving unfavourable reviews. The show closed after one performance and he never recovered from the disappointment. His mental and physical condition got worse, hastened by what was thought to be terminal syphilis. He died April 1st 1917
