Do you need your w-2 to do your taxes?

Last year, I used my final paycheck stub to file more than two weeks before I actually received my W-2 as Food Lion LLC waits until the last possible day to mail them out. It was on suggestion from my friend and I received my federal return before my W-2 got to me. My VA state return took into mid-February to receive, but it was also filed at the same time.

In other Words, no, you do not need your W-2, so long as you have an old one so you know you're employer's EIN (Employee Identification Number). Though some people prefer to wait, I prefer to do mine quickly as I get a significant and much needed refund each year.
