Leeches can be found nearly anywhere there is water, even in the oceans, and in nearly every country. Not all leeches are the blood suckers we think of when we hear the Word, some are predators and feed on earthworms who are their nearest living relative, and ocean species feed on fish. The largest leech ever discovered was a massive 18 inches long. The strangest leeches (in my opinion) are the mucous membrane eaters known as TyrannobDELLa rex, meaning tyrant leech king. They have a single jaw with huge teeth (as far as leeches go) up to five times the size of other leech species. They have been found latched in the noses of swimmers.
