If your pup is eliminating in its crate, the crate may be too big. It should only be large enough for the dog to turn around and lay down. The theory is that he won't mess where he lives. When you leave home give the dog time to go outside. Make sure that he is in the spot that you want him to use. This should be the same spot EVERY time. Then when you get home take him DIRECTLY to the spot that he is to use. When he does, praise him and pet him. NEVER hit your dog for any reason. NEVER rub his nose in it. NEVER call him to you and then hit him. This will teach the dog not to come to you. Each time you leave the house or put him in the crate for over night (or what ever), take him RIGHT to the potty spot. I have used this method for my last two dogs and have had great success. My dogs were trainer in days. Papers didn't work and neither did wee-wee pads. if you still need advice, ask your vet or humane society
