A telecommunication mechanician is a trade in the telecoms industry. The term "mechnician" is used for historical reasons and relates back to the days of mechanical exchanges, where the term "mechanician" was more appropriate than "technician".

The telecommunication mechanician trade relates to many aspects of the telecoms industry including the installation, commissioning and maintaining of telecoms equipment like PABX, Exchanges, transmission equipment, telephony devices etc.
