When deleting a certain game, whether it be an arcade game, or part of your own software, off your hardrive, the achievements gained during time played will remain on your profile. However, you will lose all current progress and anything and everything earned in-game.

If you are deleting an entire profile off the hardrive, and that profile does not subscribe to XBox Live, the entire profile as well as achievements will be deleted forever without the possibility of recovering the gamertag and said achievements.

If you are deleting an entire profile off of a hardrive, and the profile does subscribe to XBox Live, all current game data (IE: saved games, progress in a game) will be deleted. The gamer profile, however, along with achievements, is available to recover from any particular Xbox 360 as long as the said XBox is connected to the internet. Game data will not be recovered due to a different hardrive. The specefic gamertag is also avialable to view at XBox's home page: xbox.com
