When did James Cameron find the wreck?

James Cameron found the wreck of the Titanic on September 1, 1985. He was part of a U.S.-French expedition that successfully located the shipwreck about 12,500 feet deep in the North Atlantic Ocean. Cameron's exploration of the Titanic later inspired his blockbuster film "Titanic," released in 1997.
