Depends where the veribrates are located, upper or lower back? And what you mean by "squashed"? If you have a herniated disc that is causing the "squashing" it can press on a nerve and cause pain,tingling,numbness and inflammation of the area will cause muscle spasms. It your vertibrates are just "sqaushed" meaning you have very little space in that area you will have infammation which causes the same problem as above.Inflammation causes pain similar to Arthritis. Lower back symptons can cause right or left leg pain as well as back ache.You can feel numbness in one or both feet.Upper back symptons can cause neck shoulder or arm problems.
