Can Mary have a little lamb?

It has been said that this is an old Christian song. Mary, being the Virgin Mary, the lamb, of course, Jesus.

I am not sure of the reference of the Lamb following her to school one day, but suspect it is a reference to following, in a sense, the Virgin Mary into a life of Judaism/the Judaic Law. (see Galations 3:24 says The law was our tutor...) It would then explain why He was chased away--as He was not accepted by Jewish teachers--but did not abandon the one who loved Him.Mary had a little lamb,
