What is the setting of 'A Pair of Tickets' by Amy Tan?

Chinese-American writer, Amy Tanâ??s short story â??A Pair of Ticketsâ?? has a theme of reconnection with the homeland. Raised in San Francisco, the protagonist, June May (Jing-Mei), has trouble identifying with her Chinese culture. After the passing of her mother, she embarks on a journey of rediscovering her Asian heritage. Upon arriving in China and meeting her twin sisters, they show her a Polaroid snapshot she had once sent them indicating that the bond of family is strong despite where and how they grew up.
