You can be connected to a wireless network connection (wi-fi) but that does not necessarily mean that you have internet access. The problem might be that there is no internet access for you to use, not necessarily that there is a problem with your Nook.

If you're at home or there's a laptop or cellphone (capable of wi-fi connectivity), first try checking if you can access the internet through one of them. If you can't, then you'll know that the problem is not with your Nook but possibly with your router.

However, if you can access the net with another type of device, then first try restarting your Nook and try again. Some other things to try

  • disconnect from the wi-fi and reconnect
  • if your Nook has both wi-fi and 3G connectivity, try accessing the net through the 3G connection
  • if possible, try updating your device's software
  • backup the data on your Nook and then try resetting the device
