What are different art movements of the modern era from the 20th to the 21st century?

The most notable art movement in the early 20th century happened because of transition in language. The Austrian group known as The Hagenbund introduced their language in Vienna and this served as a gateway to a new flow of expressive art. Some of the expressionist art was a way of depicting realism, but many felt that it was more of focus on aesthetics.
