"This Is for the Lover in You" is a song originally recorded by Shalamar; it was released as a single on their album, "Three for Love". Although written and recorded in 1980, it was released May 25, 1981 on vinyl recorded under the contemporary R&B genre on the Solar label. While Howard Hewett wrote it, Dana Myers was a co-writer and Leon Sylvers III produced it. The Shalamar version peaked at no. 17 on the U.S. R&B chart, while it reached no. 12 on the UK Singles Chart.
