Your health insurance does not prevent you from qualifying for Medicaid. Medicaid is based upon family income and assets, not on health insurance.

Don't assume that health department programs exclude people who have insurance. Call and ask, and explain your situation. There are lots of people with similar issues.

If you do no qualify for Medicaid, you can ask your doctor's office for help. They could offer you a payment plan, and they may have other ideas and options for you.
