yes, it is possible that a squid is in a long line of species with certain types of eyeballs called estnostrophnyths (es-no-strop-ni-ths). This means that they aren't color blind and that their eyes have a certain chemical used to make them wet. The prosess is called aquenthysis and the chemical is called dystroform. The process stretches the eyelid skin and widens the eyes when the squid is in a state of shock or about to attack. This happens to us also.

The process of aquenthysis send a rush of shock to your brain which then send a flow of water(tears) to your tear duct which makes the eyes widen. Aquenthysis and dystroform are not related to when you start to cry and your eyes get puffy.
