Purpose of demand draft

A Demand draft is a cheque like instrument that can be encashed by the person on whose name the draft is drawn.

The difference is that you can make a demand draft only after remitting the required funds to the bank. so it is as good as cash.

It can be used anywhere you need to remit cash. for example to pay examination fees, monthly payments to your grocer etc.
