The answer is with difficulty, but this is how, remove the battery unplug the push in connector on the side of the air filter box, remove the top cover of the air filter, undo the three bolts holding the air filter box to the inner wing, remove the ducting to the filter box, unplug the sensor on the side of the throttle body, remove the perge canister near the fuel filter after removing the rubber pipe attatched to the top of it, this will now give you enough room at the top of the off side wing to get at the two bolts holding the motor to the bell housing, this looks an impossible task to begin with but with patients it can be done, do not undo these all the way yet but slacken them off, you now need to get under the car and work between the cross member to get at the motor, remove the battery feed terminal from the motor, and unplug the ignition connector, go back and remove the bolts completely to release the motor, the motor now has to be manipulated along the drive shaft towards the drivers side of the car and slowly moved passed all cables, like i said its a sod but it can be done, the best news is yet to come because these starters can be repaired for peanuts without buying a new one, log on to solenoid contacts on Toyota
best of luck honestwelsh sunny Wales
