A baby black widow spider is born from an egg sac that the mother creates, which can contain dozens to hundreds of eggs. After the eggs are laid, the mother guards the sac until the spiderlings hatch. Once they emerge, the tiny Spiders are independent and must fend for themselves, often dispersing to find food and shelter. The mother may provide some protection initially but will not care for the young after they hatch.
