What does a Red Spotted Newt eat?

When on land smooth newts tend to feed on insects, worms and slugs. In water they feed on Shrimps, water lice, insect larvae, water snails and frog tadpoles.

Newt larvae feed on aquatic invertebrates and crustaceans.

Newts will also eat algae,usually found at the bottom of the pond,river,lake and stream etc. They are carnivores.
