Yes, a person must be registered as a veterinary technician through the Ohio Veterinary Licensing Board to act as a veterinary technician. Anyone working as an assistant to a veterinarian who does not meet the requirements to be a Registered Veterinary Technician is considered by Ohio law to be an "aide" and is limited in the duties that can be performed and must be under the supervision of a licensed veterinarian or registered veterinary technician.
