When was the first nuclear bomb invented?

The atomic bomb was invented in 1933 by Leo Szilard while crossing a street in London and patented the following year. For many reasons he was not able to build it at the time by himself.

It took 12 years before the US was able to build the first atomic bombs and use them to end WW2.
