Transylvanian vampires are like Dracula and other "creatures of the night". They are pale, have fangs, only come out at night, and suck blood. Unlike the Twilight series and other stories in Transylvania the werewolves are bad they kill people and turn into wolves during the full moon, they then kill people and when they become human they don't remember being wolves at all. It is possible to be one and not even know it. These are just myths, and "real" werewolves remember, have recall about being such. They can change at will but new ones must change when they hear a howl or see a full moon.
Transylvania is located in Romania, the locals were called Dacians which means wolves. They revered wolves as noble warriors and were said to be able to change they soldiers into wolves. There is a myth about the great White Wolf who was man and walked with a priest the priest then gave him the will of God who turned him into a White Wolf so that he would help in battle by summoning the wolves to fight their enemies with them.
So no werewolves were not considered bad and evil in Romania, they were considered blessed by the Gods.
Dracula comes from Transylvania legend from Vlad the Impaler. Vlad lll and his brother Radu lll (the beautiful) were sent to the Ottoman court to serve as Vlad ll (dracul) loyalty to the Ottoman Empire (1442).
During that time Vlad lll was often beaten and whipped because he was stubborn and often verbally abused his captors, his brother Radu was much easier to control. It is said that being prisoner changed Vlad's demeanor and made him into the killer he became so notoriously known as.
Vlad ll Dracul and Vlad lll Dracula (Dracula literally means son of the Dragon) were initiated into the Order of the dragon.
It was Christian based.
Vlad lll was merely given that name because of the obscure way he killed his enemies by impaling them (which was his favourite way as history tells it.) Estimates for number of his victims range from 40,000 to 100,000. Needless to say Romania thought of his as a great warrior.
