What is a Woodwose?

The Woodwose or Wildman of the Woods is a mythological figure that appears in the artwork and literature of medieval Europe.

Every country has its wild man - Sasquatch, Yeti, Skunk Ape - that is claimed to be existent to this day. Others, like ogres, are thought by most to be just myths. At one time other human-like folk (Neanderthals) did exist, and these tales and stories may represent encounters with them.
