Does the battery on the cellphone consumes when texting?

Does the average internet poster use anything resembling actual English when posting? Yes, everything on a cell phone uses the battery, they don't operate via magic. Though it's not exactly a batter intensive operation texting does use some battery, albeit significantly less than talking on the phone or web browsing.
