Even in games where blood is expected, there are often settings which will block the appearance of blood. Americas Army is one example that allows blood to be shut off.

I had the same problem myself. Although these games are good, I would reccomend:

Battlefield heroes (Cartoonish, but 3d and good fun. few noobs as far as I know)

Quake live: takes about 20-30 mins to download, and hard to master, but good fun too)
