If you smoked 3 hits off a joint 3 months ago and your hair is 1 inch long will you pass a hair test?

I am not an expert but I believe that as hair is inert, if the chemical signature for weed got into the hair as it was growing 4 months ago, it will still be there until you cut that bit of hair off.
