What is the theme of the story dead stars?

I found the entire text of the short story Dead Stars by Paz Marquez Benitez, and am including it in the related links below... if that is what you mean.

If you mean, is there a story beyond this short story... I don't believe so. Some people never lengthen their short stories into novels... and some short stories wouldn't work as novels.
