That depends directly on the individual that was attacked. The resulting severity of the bite is different with each person. When a BedBug "bites" you what happens is the nasty little creature secretes a couple of chemicals at the point of the bite. One is ananesthetic that stops you from feeling the pain of the bite and waking up. The other is an anti coagulant to make sucking your blood easier for them. How each individual reacts to those chemicals is what determines the severity of the bite and the time it will take to go away.

What you see as a bite is an allergic reaction. In some cases that reaction can be very dangerous and has even been known to bring on Asthma attacks.
