Lord of the Flies who does the captain symbolize?

I pretty sure the beast is the captain because he was ill at first with simon watching him 24/7, but later when all the boys set off to find the captain they found the captain all they found was his pants, belt and shoes which was weird but later all the small ones told everyone that they saw a beast and then i thought that the captain was missing and the small ones seeing a beast is stupid, so its definately the captain as the beast.
