Can you flat tow an automatic transmission geo tracker in the 1993 to 1997 model range If so what do you have to do to not damage the drivetrain?

I used to know a guy who flat towed one of those round trip coast to coast twice a year behind his motorhome for nearly a decade. The only modifications were for electrical connection for lights and for the tow bar.
