Pangasius, commonly known as pangasianodon or catfish, generally do not have scales like many other fish species. Instead, they have smooth skin that is covered with a layer of mucus. This unique adaptation helps them thrive in their natural habitats, which are often murky waters. However, they do have a bony structure beneath their skin that provides some protection.
