only because there was neutral trade problems and issues over the british people supporting American Indians to get at the Americans, and American sailors getting in the british navys without rights.the one who had started this war was president James Madison.they made a difference to the war because slavery and other things were happening like taking over lands of Canada.(just in case you need this info also:the war started in June 18,1812 and ended at 1815 when in 1814 Madison signed the peace treaty).hope this gives you your answer!!!
