Most average car tires are rated for a tread life of roughly 40,000 to 50,000 miles although there are versions available that have tread life's estimated as high as 70,000 miles. The mileage of your tires will depend on the manufacturer as well as if proper tire care maintenance is performed. Without regularly having your tires at the correct air pressure, rotated every 6,000-7,000 miles and balanced as necessary the useable tread life will be greatly reduced. With proper care however, it is possible for tires to remain useable for even longer than the manufacturers estimated tread life. Tires should also be replaced whenever they show signs of weather wear such as cracks or fissures or sustain any damage such as cords showing, breaking or developing bulges in the sidewall for safety reasons.
