To see your outside or public IP address, lookup on google " my ip" and it will tell you the bold numbers. That is the IP your network uses to talk with the outside world.
To see local IP;
Depends on the OS:
Windows 98: Start > Run > type WINIPCFG
Windows XP: Start > Control Panel > Network Connections > Right Click > Properties > internet Protocol (IP/TCP) > Properties

Start > Run > Type 'cmd' > Press Enter> ipconfig/all > Press Enter
there is also a console command.
In Windows 2000 onwards, click Start --> Run --> CMD.exe
then type "ipconfig" and hit return.

Linux, Ubuntu, etc
Open up a root terminal
Type 'ifconfig'
That will give you the networking stats of the computer.
You can just go on your network connections page and right click on the connection that you have and click status. There you will see your IP address.
