When was The Red Badge of Courage written?

Steven Crane wrote the Red Badge of Courage in 1894. It came out first as a series in The Philadelphia Press in December of that year. This version was then reprinted and ran in newspapers across the country. A longer final version of the manuscript was published in book form by D. Appleton & Company in October 1895
