Mostly in the centralised desert regions and national parks. They have been driven away from most areas in the south, east, and far west, as these are pasturalised and farmed areas, to protect stock, especially sheep. They are pretty shy and do not wander into populated areas, especially as they are usually shot at. However, you can find them in most zoos and nature parks, and they do still live on some of the islands off the coast of Queensland.
