How many people can fit in a small canoe?

Most canoes fit three people - two paddlers and a "duffer" in the middle who does not have a seat, and usually does not paddle. If your canoe is on the small side, there may be less room for the duffer to sit comfortably. Specially designed "solo canoes" are made to be able to be paddled by one person, but are still usually big enough to fit two or even three people.
