John C. Calhoun (born March 18, 1782 in Abbeville, South Carolina; died March 31, 1850 in Washington, DC) succeeded Daniel D. Tompkins as the seventh vice-President of the United States, serving between March 4, 1825 and December 28, 1832, including the whole of 1826.
