Well before surgery (at least 2 weeks), you should discuss this question with your doctor. He/she will go through your list of medication and tell you what to take and what to put on hold. In any case, all medication that increases bleeding, such as aspirine (though more and more surgeons no longer stop this) and marcumar, are stopped 10 days before surgery. Some drugs for Diabetes are also put on hold. It also depends on the kind of surgery you are having, and on the reason you are taking the drugs in the first place. You should always discuss this matter with your physician at least 2 weeks before surgery.
