Why do people buy and sell illegal animals?

Why do people sell anything? People sell for money. If an animal is endangered (going extinct, very few left in the world), people figure that it's got to be worth a lot of money. People also kill animals that are going extinct because of their attributes like their fur, scales and other things like that.
